March is offiicially brain injury awareness month in Michigan. Most people are simply unaware of the prevalence of the significant closed head and traumatic brain injuries that are suffered on a daily basis, many which come from car and motorcyle accidents. The Michigan Brain Injury Association does a tremendous job assisting families and providing support for the patients. A great article in today's Traverse City Record Eagle discusses how a family is coping with their child's brain injury that resulted from a car accident in which the vehicle overturned. The article chronicles the recovery of the child and the impact on the family.
