This Memorial Day Michigan car accident was devastating and the outcome may have been different if the passengers wre wearing their seat belts . The early morning Memorial Day crash that killed two parents and injured their four children occurred on a stretch of road residents have been complaining about for years.

Police are still trying to determine if speed or alcohol was a factor in the crash. They do know that no one in the car was wearing a seatbelt. "It's absolutely paramount that everyone wears their seatbelt," Raymond said. "We've seen crash after crash where people have walked away after serious impact with little or no injury because of use of the seatbelt."

The driver of the truck, Jennifer Depue, was working for Mid-Michigan Dogs at the time of the accident. She and her two blood hounds, a volunteer K-9 rescue team, were on their way to help search for a missing 13-year-old girl. Depue was strapped in, and she suffered only minor injuries.
