Investigators continued their probe Saturday morning into Dearborn Michigan fatal car accident that involved a Dearborn Heights Police cruiser. The police car struck a 1996 Pontiac Grand Am at Van Born and Marvin in Taylor.
At this point it is unknown whether the police car was involved in a police chase. Under Michigan law, a person injured by a speeding police car must actually be struck by the police vehicle in order to file a civil claim against the police officer or agency. This law, which is quite illogical, has been used to bar wrongful death and serious injury claims caused by police chases.
