A 48-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, both from Britton, were injured Monday in a Michigan motorcycle accident. Apparently, a pickup truck hit their motorcycle at the border of Cambridge and Woodstock townships in Lenawee County. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment,

The woman remained this morning in the surgical intensive care unit. She was listed in critical condition and the man in fair condition. After the incident, the pickup driver fled the scene, but was later arrested at his home. His name was not released The police believe that alcohol could have been a factor in the incident.

My firm handles a number of serious motorcycle accident cases throughout Michigan. From our experience in investigating these accident cases, it it typically the motorist who disregards the rights and safety of the motorcyclist that is the cause of the accident. A person injured on a motorcycle is eligible for Michigan No-Fault benefits to pay for medical expenses, wage loss, and other allowable benefits. Understanding the rights of injured motorcyclists is essential for an attorney handling these claims because of the many nuances in the No-Fault law that apply to motorcyclists.
