I read a tragic story of a Michigan motorcycle accident in which a 65-year-old Michigan State University employee was hit by a motorcycle Friday while walking on campus. Evelone "Lonnie" Herman, who works at MSU's Eli Broad College of Business, was in a marked crosswalk, crossing North Shaw Lane about 8:15 p.m., when the motorcycle struck her, police said.

She is still on a ventilator at Sparrow Hospital, recovering from her injuries. Ms. Herman suffered a broken pelvis, punctured lung and other fractures. On her left side, half of her ribs are broken; the others are cracked, Doug Herman said.

Under Michigan law, Ms. Herman is entitled to both sue the negligent motorcyclist for her injuries and can make a claim under the Michigan No-Fault for a number of insurance benefits. These include attendant care services, wage loss, replacement services, and medical bills. My firm specializes in Michigan No-Fault cases and we understand the intricacies of this difficult system. This enables us to assist our clients in obtaining all of their benefits, not just the benefits the insurance company decides it wants to pay.

MSU police are continuing to investigate the accident, said Sgt. Florene McGlothian-Taylor.
