I read about the tragic Michigan car accident that claimed the life of a a 57-year-old tow truck driver the other day in Royal Oak, Michigan. The incident occurred while the man was changing the tire on a truck on eastbound Interstate 696 near Woodward Avenue. A sport utility vehicle pinned him between that truck and his tow truck and caused severe injuries that led to his death. My office has handled several similar cases over the years in which people standing next to their disabled car or attempting to get their car out of a snowbank have been struck and killed by other motorists. Last year, we settled a case for $1,600,000.00 for a family whose husband and father was killed in such a manner. Unfortunately, many drivers do not seem to pay enough attention to those on the shoulders and off the roadway.
