A teenager died tragically Monday morning in a Detroit car accident after crashing a 1996 Ford Mustang into a utility pole while on his way to school at the Cesar Chavez Academy. Eleazar Herrera, a 10th grader at Chavez High School, lost control of the car and struck the pole shortly before 8 a.m. on Dix Street west of Vernor, Detroit Police Sgt. Eren Stephens-Bell said. Speed and wet road conditions were factors in the crash, she said.
