There have been a number of toy recalls in certain months due to lead paint being identified on toys. The recalled toys have primarily been manufactured in China. While it is clearly a good thing to pull these toys from the shelves at retail stores and from homes, these actions alone will only have a minimal affect on the problem of child lead poisoning. A lawsuit was just filed by a Florida parent againt Mattel aftre the company recalled 1.5 million toys with possible lead paint hazards. The parent is seeking a refund for toys and money for diagnostic tests for lead poisoning.
