Child Lead Poisoning Rules Get Tougher

Due to the significant number of children in Cincinnati diagnosed with lead poisoning every year, the city instituted new rules for providing health education and inspecting high risk properties. The primary source of child lead poisoning is deteriorated paint in older buildings. The city health department will now send a nurse to homes to educate parents when blood lead levels between 5 and 9 ug/dl. The Center for Disease Control defines any level greater than 9 ug/dl in a child as lead poisoning. The goal is to educate parents and implement hazard reduction measures before levels get to a dangerous level, rather than wait until they get too high and then begin the intervention process.

My firm handles child lead poisoning cases throughout Michigan and Ohio. We proudly represent lead poisoned children and their families against negligent landlords and property managers.
