The number of children diagnosed with lead poisoning in Detroit, Michigan every year is astounding and exceeds several thousand children on an annual basis. My law firm handles virtually all of the child lead poisoning cases in Detroit and throughout the State of Michigan. The biggest source of child lead poisoning is the lead-based paint in older homes.

HUD recently announced a $4,000,000.00 grant to the City of Detroit to help families and property owners with lead paint abatement. The grant money, which will be administered by the Planning and Development Department, will be used to fix homes where children younger than 6 live and for landlords to improve their properties. Statistics show that programs to abate lead paint hazards in homes have been very effective in the past in lowering blood lead levels in the population of young children.
