The California Department of Health recently pulled candy from the shelves of stores due to testing results which showed high levels of lead in the candy. The candies are made in Mexico by Effem Mexico, Inc. and were on the shelves of Marquez Brothers stores. There have been no identified cases of lead poisoning from the candies.

Child lead poisoning is a major health concern in the United States. The adverse effects of lead on children include learning disabilities, developmental delays, and behavioral problems. My firm specialzes in these cases and have handled hundreds on behalf of lead poisoned children and their families. To date, we have not had a case where the lead poisoning came from a source other than lead based paint or dust.
