An interesting article appeared in an Indiana newspaper regarding concussions and brain injuries. Many concussion victims can expect to have headache and nausea and may feel dizzy right after their head injury. Other symptoms include ringing in the ears, neck pain, and feeling anxious, upset, irritable, depressed or tired. The person who has had a concussion may also have problems concentrating, remembering things, putting thoughts together, or doing more than one thing at a time. These symptoms usually go away in a few weeks, but may go on for over a year if the injury was severe. This is then classified as a closed head injury or traumatic brain injury. In my practice, I often hear from clients thought that they would disappear, but they persist and do not seem to resolve. I see these mostly in auto accident cases and other types of head trauma cases and the impact on a person's life is significant.
