The lawsuit filed by the Attorney General in Rhode Island on behalf of its citizens has been appealed to the highest court in that state. The suit alleged that the state incurred significant expenses from the lead poisoning of children and clean-up costs. Sherwin-Williams Co. and NL Industries Inc. were among three companies accused by Rhode Island of covering up the health risks of lead paint a lawsuit filed in 1999, the first in the nation to hold paint makers responsible. The three companies have been ordered to clean up buildings contaminated with lead paint in the state, which could cost as much as $3 billion. My firm is the leading law firm in Michigan representing lead poisoned children and their families.
