A significant verdict was handed down recently in a dog bite case in Delray Beach, Florida. The 38 year old victim worked as a housekeeper and is now unable to work because of the brutal dog attack. The verdict totaled approximately $3,700,000.00.

My firm handles a significant number of dog bite and dog attack cases here in Michigan. The injuries are often quite severe and range from scarring and disfigurement to severe nerve damage. Many victims sustain other serious injuries while trying to avoid the attack or protect themselves from the dogs. In Michigan, dog bite cases are often strict liability, especially when the dog is not properly leashed. This essentially means that the owner or keeper of the dog is automatically liable for injuries caused by the canine and the main question in the case is the amount of money that is appropriate to compensate the victim.
