The U.S. Postal Service has stopped delivering mail in a certain Northwest Detroit neighborhood because a postal carrier was viciously attacked twice by different dogs. Dog attacks and dog bite cases are not new to mail carriers and postal workers who walk through neighborhoods daily and have to fend off stray dogs. Owners of dogs who run stray and injure others are negligent under both state and local laws and can be sued by the injured persons. They also are subject to fines from the city. Our office handles a great number of dog attack and dog bite cases and we are currently investigating a case for a postal worker severely injured from a dog attack.
