The FDA recalled two breakfast cereals made my Malt-O-Meal due to at least 23 people become sick from the same strain of salmonella found in Puffed Rice and Puffed Wheat cereals.  Three people have been hospitalized due to the sickness but fortunately there have been no reported deaths.  Sicknesses have been reported in 13 states to the present date.

The salmonella strain can cause significant illness if not timely treated and diagnosed.  Food poisoning claims are frequently reported and prompt recalls are essential to preventing additional injuries and sickness.  In cases of significant illness and even death, the consumer does have a legal right to pursue a personal injury case for food poisoning against the maker of the food or the restaurant that served the tainted food.  Claims often include demands to have medical bills paid and compensation for the sickness and suffering caused by the tainted food.
